Disclosure
How I get paid, in full.
Most advice in energy and business is free because someone else is paying for it. That's the part nobody puts in writing. This page does.
Osborn Consulting operates in three distinct modes. Which one applies to you depends on what you've engaged me for — and you'll always know which one you're in before any work starts.
Independent paid consultation on solar, battery and energy decisions, and on buying, selling or valuing a business. You pay a fixed fee for the work itself.
During a paid advisory session I don't recommend a specific installer or supplier, and I receive nothing from any of them. The advice is based on your circumstances, your usage, and your goals — nothing else.
If, after your advisory session, you want an introduction to a supplier or installer, I can make one. That is a separate thing from the advice, and it never happens automatically.
Before any introduction, I'll confirm in writing who you'd be introduced to, whether I'd receive a referral fee if a sale proceeds, and that you're consenting to your contact details being shared. You can decline or withdraw at any point, and declining changes nothing about the advice already given.
I'm a licensed business broker operating under the Finn Business Sales network. Where a business sale, appraisal or valuation is handled as a brokered engagement, that's a distinct arrangement from the fixed-fee advisory work on this site.
In a brokerage capacity I represent the seller unless agreed otherwise in writing. Finn Business Sales terms and fee schedules are provided separately and signed before any listing begins. Business valuations are referred to Finn Business Valuations, a specialist division.
What holds across all three
- You'll always know which mode applies to your engagement before any work begins.
- Advisory and referral are never blended. You won't be moved from one to the other without your knowledge and consent.
- No introduction to any third party happens without your explicit written consent.
- You're never under obligation to use anyone I introduce you to.
- Advice given under a paid advisory engagement stands regardless of what you decide afterwards.
