You should always know who's paying, before you decide.

In solar, most advice comes from whoever is selling the system. In business sales, brokers are paid when the deal closes. Neither is wrong, but you should always know who's paying. Here, you always do.

Advisory
You pay me directly for advice. I'm also a sales partner for an installer, so if quoting you is ever an option, I'll tell you in writing first.
Referral
Where I refer you to a partner, or quote a system myself through an installer partner, I tell you upfront and in writing. You decide whether to proceed.
Brokerage
Where a brokerage arrangement exists — through Finn Business Sales — that's disclosed upfront. The fee structure is transparent from the first conversation.
